10 Spring Fashion Trends You Should Look Out For

Spring is upon us, and with some of that sun comes new trends that are gracing our feeds today. Spring/Summer 2022 is always full of excitement, and while the summer season is typically when bright colours come out to play, spring is everyone’s favourite time to bust out fun shapes, silhouettes, and layers, making the season the ultimate time to trend watch and check out what outfit everyone’s wearing.

Whether we see it on the red carpet, on a London Fashion Week runway, or simply walking down the street, the new season sees a ton of new and repurposed fashion inspiration that we’re so ready to wear. Here are our favourite spring fashion trends that you’ll want to wear ASAP.

What Were the Key Trends for Spring 2022?

Bold Pops of Colour

This season is all about calling attention to your clothing, and what better way to do that than to wear some bright colours that complement spring. Designers like Stella McCartney and Christian Siriano are telling us to forget about neutral trends for a second and start wearing hot pink, neon green, and the like. You can easily wear this trend with pieces like an oversized blazer, trousers, or accessories.

Mini Skirts

The mini skirt constantly finds itself in and out of fashion trends, and this spring season, we can officially say that it’s back in trend. While the mini skirt that we’ve been seeing on runways of brands like Dior, Prada, and Versace that incorporates a low rise waist alongside a super short length definitely puts us in danger of a wardrobe malfunction, your typical mini will fit into the spring trend just as seamlessly.

Sheer Fabrics

One of our favourite fun and sexy trends of spring is undoubtedly sheer clothes. Perfect for spring as it is in summer, the sheer trend can definitely feel intimidating but is perfect for layering and experimenting with different styles. Dresses, tops, and even trousers from names like David Koma and Simone Rocha give us tons of outfit inspiration.

Bulky Bags

While the micro bag fashion trend had a real moment in the sun and spotlight these past few seasons, Richard Quinn, Max Mara, and Tory Burch are telling us that bulky bags are the new thing, and we don’t hate it. While baguettes were certainly cute and minimalistic, we can’t wait to have more practical room in our everyday bags.

Stripes

One of the spring fashion trends that’s getting everyone’s attention is a simple one: stripes. While they’ve never technically ever gone out of fashion, they’re definitely currently having a major moment on the runway. Emporio Armani, Carolina Herrera, and Balmain are just a few names that have truly embraced the bold look this season.

Low Rise

With Y2K fashion trends back in full swing, it’s no surprise that the low-slung waist has found its place back in style. We’ve spotted the look everywhere, but brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Tom Ford are really embracing it on their runways. If you’re looking to put a twist on your casual look, consider pairing this trend with crop tops for a really simple yet daring midriff-baring outfit.

Cut-Outs

Cut-outs definitely isn’t a new silhouette, as every season and year has experimented with them in different ways. However this season on different runways like Michael Kors, Jonathan Simkhai, LaQuan Smith, and Yves Saint Laurent, we’re seeing different and more unique placements and fabrics that we’re excited to dress up in while we’re out and about.

Sensible Sandals

While high heels will always have their place in fashion, comfortable shoes are making their way to the forefront, as the latest in fashion has been more focused on incorporating comfort into our everyday style. Brands like Chloé have been showcasing chunkier yet equally comfier shoes on their runways, getting us excited to walk around in our favourite slippers.

Pleated Skirts

The pleated skirt is one of the most timeless silhouettes ever, and we’re glad to see them back on the runway. While brands like Stella McCartney and Emporio Armani have mastered the look in many of their collections, we’re excited to see more designers incorporating the style not just into the typical skirt, but even into dresses and trouser styles as well.

Fringe and Multi Straps

The fringe and multi-strap dress is another look that’s gone in and out of fashion every now and again, and its current renaissance is perhaps our favourite so far. We love how fringe puts a spring and fun twist into every step, while the multi-strap look adds a simple but interesting flair to our usual basics. Isabel Marant has been one of the forerunners of the look this season, and we’re excited to see some extra flounce on the streets this whole year.

Final Note

Fashion trends come and go, but we’re always excited to see what comes back and what gets reinvented. This year is all about boldness, so don’t be afraid to put on those brightly coloured earrings, that daring cut-out dress, or the midriff-baring jeans you’ve been keeping in your wardrobe since the 2000s.
