Red carpet events are some of our favourite times to witness best-dressed stars and musicians rocking enviable designer pieces and striking their best poses. This year’s Billboard Music Awards red carpet definitely gave us just that, with musicians and actors alike showing up in unique and stunning looks that we want for ourselves.
While these certainly aren’t outfits we’d wear on an average night out, we’re still taking notes and finding our summer style inspo from best-dressed outfits that have us rearing and ready for summer colours, vibrant prints, cutouts and everything sparkly.
From Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Machine Gun Kelly and Alicia Keys to Gabrielle Union-Wade, here are some of the best outfits from the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
First on our list of best dressed on the 2021 Billboard Music Awards red carpet is Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. Lakshmi was an absolute stunner in this sparkly number from Christian Siriano and wears the Swarovski crystals-embellished suit with a Jacquie Aiche lariat necklace and body chain, as well as a simple yet just as glittery and eye-catching clutch from Tyler Ellis.
Alicia Keys was a fun pop of colour on the 2021 Billboard Music Awards red carpet. She’s wearing a custom Valentino three-piece pant set consisting of pink trousers, a matching pink crop top, and a voluminous silk cape. She’s fully convinced us that a billowy cape is exactly what our outfits this summer need.
Doja Cat has never shied away from daring looks, and the rapper gave everyone on the red carpet a run for their money in this stripy Balmain set. Doja Cat paired the outfit with Jacob & Co. jewels, Stuart Weitzman’s black satin Bonita platforms, and topped off the bold look with some skinny braids.
H.E.R. was another sparkling stunner in bright red, wearing a sequin-embroidered Dior jumpsuit. The jumpsuit from the Dior Pre-Fall 2021 collection was paired with simple black peep-toe heels and the singer’s signature sunglasses.
Couple Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly rocked up to the 2021 Billboard Music Awards in complementing and head-turning outfits. Wearing sexy cutout design from Mugler, the actor paired the risque look with a ruched midi skirt and Jimmy Choo pumps, while Machine Gun Kelly wore a deconstructed Balmain suit, Mikimoto x Comme des Garçons pearl choker, Tasaki earrings and necklace and a black tongue as the most unconventional accessory of the evening.
The Giambattista Valli silk taffeta ball gown featured a floral front and asymmetrical skirt, and the Anabela Chan earrings and Le Vian ring set were the perfect accent to the look.
Gabrielle Union-Wade caught everyone’s eye dressed in this paillette-embellished Prada dress with a plunging neckline. She wore her deep cut Prada dress with a powder pink Prada handbag and Prada sandals.
Bulgari jewels gave Gabrielle Union-Wade even more glam that evening, and she also added a touch of the early 2000s with a peppy ponytail.
Kehlani donned an all-red look with a three-piece set from Parisian atelier Tony Ward Couture. The outfit featured an embellished bustier with puffed sleeves and a mesh mermaid-style skirt. The look was pulled together with jewellery by Bulgari.
Another striking couple at the Billboard Music Awards were husband and wife duo Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas. Priyanka stole the night in her metallic number, giving us some serious Cher vibes in a golden Dolce & Gabbana design with a thigh-high slit paired with almost 40 carats worth of Bulgari diamonds.
She accompanied her husband, Nick Jonas, who was yet another bright pop of colour in a green-on-green ensemble from Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection paired with simple black boots.
Gabby Barrett shined, literally, on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet in this flowing golden gown by Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran. The high-shine dress featured a cold-shoulder detail with a flowing embroidered train. The singer wore the dress with shoes by Stuart Weitzman and jewellery by Dena Kemp.
Cynthia Erivo wore a unique custom Carolina Herrera dress to the event. The gown, which featured exaggerated tiers of black and white ruffles with a mix of polka dot prints, was paired with jewellery by Roberto Coin and shoes from Christian Louboutin’s collaboration with Idris and Sabrina Dhowre Elba.
Red carpets are full of talented artists, trendsetters, and up-and-coming designers on some of the best known stars around the world. The 2021 Billboard Music Awards is another place we get to see creative and fun looks on our favourite stars, from embellished jumpsuits to flowing gowns. While these looks are definitely opulent and out there, we’re adding all of them to our fashion inspirations for the summer.
